Canada’s longest-running country music festival just solidified its 2026 roster, and it is a star-studded affair. Taking place from June 25–28, the festival in Dauphin, Manitoba, is leaning into a mix of Nashville giants and home-grown Canadian talent.
The 2026 mainstage will be anchored by massive names like Jelly Roll, Tyler Hubbard, and Nate Smith. However, the real buzz is around the Canadian contingent:
JJ Wilde: The rock-country crossover star is set to bring her high-energy performance to the Saturday slot.
Hailey Benedict & Alli Walker: Two of the fastest-rising names in Canadian country will take the stage on Friday and Saturday, respectively.
Thelma & James: The emerging duo will help kick off the festivities on the opening Thursday.
Organizers have warned that with a lineup of this caliber, tickets—which are on sale now—are expected to move at record speeds.
Shambhala 2026: Bass in the BC Forest
For those who prefer synthesizers to steel guitars, the 27th annual Shambhala Music Festival (July 24–27) has just unveiled a jaw-dropping electronic lineup. The Salmo River Ranch will host over 150 artists, headlined by some of the biggest names in the global scene:
Excision and Black Tiger Sex Machine will lead the charge for the bass-heavy "Village" stage.
Chromeo and A-Trak are set to bring the funk to the "Fractal Forest."
International heavy hitters: The roster also includes Boris Brejcha, CloZee, and Ganja White Night, making this one of the most diverse electronic lineups in North America this year.
Calgary Crowns the Folk Kings
While summer festivals are looking ahead, the roots community spent the last 48 hours celebrating in Calgary. The 2026 Canadian Folk Music Awards wrapped up yesterday, April 12, with AHI emerging as the weekend's standout artist.
AHI secured both Single of the Year for "Human Kind" and Contemporary Album of the Year for The Light Behind The Sun. Other notable winners included:
Indigenous Songwriters of the Year: A tie between Aysanabee and the duo PIQSIQ.
Solo Artist of the Year: East Coast legend Lennie Gallant.
Young Performer of the Year: Fiddle prodigy Max Francis.
Vancouver Folk Music Festival: Beachside Vibes
Not to be outdone, the Vancouver Folk Music Festival also revealed its 49th annual lineup this weekend. Jericho Beach will host an eclectic mix from July 17–19, featuring British punk-folk legend Billy Bragg, indie-folk artist Valerie June, and Canadian powerhouse Ruby Waters.
Pro Tip: If you're planning on hitting the festival circuit this year, several "Early Bird" windows for the Winnipeg Folk Festival and Country Thunder Saskatchewan close at the end of this month. Now is the time to lock in those passes!
